Hi the Z7 only records HDV format the EX3 records High definition Format. Much MTV content is Z1 sourced, the BBC and Sky use Z1's but for Standard definition acquisition, if a BBC programme is made in high definition only 20% can consist of Z1 or HDV material. The Z1 is 1/3 inch chip and used standard definition lens. I am on the fence between purchasing an ex3 or a z7u. I do long-form doc work, and am leaning toward a z7u, but have to see its output. Does anyone doc which doc reality series were sourced with a z7u…or even a z1u, versus an ex3…or even an ex1?

For shooting the occasional movie clip, you can select between a 4:3 Aspect Ratio, which offers 640 x 480 pixels (VGA) or 320 x 240 pixels (QVGA) modes at 30 fps (frames per second); or the 16:9 Aspect Ratio which offers a 848 x 480 pixels mode (WVGA), again at 30 fps. The length of the movie clip is limited only by the size of the memory card used. Sound recording is in a mono channel format and good enough for indoor use.

Great post with lots of useful links we’ll certainly be seeing more of this type of marketing, the plus side is that it only works on films that have value to their audience – thowing this kind of campaign behind a dud film wouldn’t work the way advertising does.
