For shooting the occasional movie clip, you can select between a 4:3 Aspect Ratio, which offers 640 x 480 pixels (VGA) or 320 x 240 pixels (QVGA) modes at 30 fps (frames per second); or the 16:9 Aspect Ratio which offers a 848 x 480 pixels mode (WVGA), again at 30 fps. The length of the movie clip is limited only by the size of the memory card used. Sound recording is in a mono channel format and good enough for indoor use.

hi………
i have pmw ex1 and i want to capture footage in 4:3 ratio pal but unable to do so…….
i have set the settings to pal 50sp but it still capture in 16:9 ratio……..why????
can anyone help…….
You will need to downconvert and crop for 4:3 resolution, you can set your guides for 4:3 framing.
all HD/HDV camera formats are 16:9, if you desire to shoot 4:3 then opt to use a z1 and select dv or dvam 4:3.
