Gary Vaynerchuk author of “Crush It!” and founder of Winelibrary.TV a social web 2.0 media entrepreneur, puts some of the focus of his success and personal branding strategy down to understanding that “Content is King, Marketing is Queen”.

Whatever the format of your Content be it video, images, audio or text, when it comes to putting it on the internet and connecting and creating awareness this can only be done through Marketing. Work hard on the Content and be smart on the Marketing, make use of the social networks and understand how the game is changing, citing things like twitter, social networks, using online video, how using a camera and talking about wine got him noticed and how he now has the same agent representation as Oprah Winfrey.

He describes his entrepreneurial nature from young and how that led to turning the family business turnover of $3 million to $60 million in five years.

With current credit crunch and collapse of many banking and investment institutions, created through greed, exploitation, miss-selling of mortgages or other financial products.

One wonders if business was conduct with a ethical purpose could this current situation been averted or impact lessened.

This conference was aimed at opening up discussion, clearly explaining and communicating what Shariah and Islamic services could provide. How the Muslim community can access this and use the financial services on offer in keeping with their faith, moral obligation and not be involved in a Usury system currently the mainstream option.

Attending this event was the a representative of the Global Islamic Index in the US from Dow Jones, Islamic Bank of Great Britain and Alburaq who are introducing Shariah mortgages into the UK.

The event was also to make Shari’ah products available into the commercial and mainstream sector so non-muslims could also have access to more ethical, moral and fairer options of investment or borrowing.

Those in audience consisted of financial sector employees, muslims, media and investors who came to find out and understand more how Shari’ah compliancy was governed, set up, monitored and how it conforms with the UK finance, securities and investement laws and regulations covering the sector.

Digital Hollywood 2009- Sponsored Programming And Brand Integration

The Return of the Sponsor: Programming Brand Integration Keeping production budgets afloat with the help of Corporate America.

Speakers, lineup, contributors and moderators include:

  • David Norton, VP Brand Integration, Ladder Up Media
  • Mark Vega, Of Counsel, Luce Forward and Co-Founder of Omelet
  • Josh Bycel, Co-Executive Producer, Psych (USA Network)
  • Adam Armus, Executive Producer, Heroes (NBC)
  • Daniel Harris, Chairman & CEO, MediaPass
  • Brian Seth Hurst, CEO, The Opportunity Management Company,
  • Moderator Presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
  • Adam Armus, Executive Producer, Heroes (NBC), talks about the role of Brand integration in Heroes and also how the internet and mobile have affected how the show is produced and how brands benefit from the extension, from the net and mobile handheld audience, long after the programmed has finished airing via broadcast.

With companies looking to reassess and re apportion their marketing and ad spend instead of buying airtime between programmes, they look to be involved in spending and investing in tv or films to connect with their audience and have a cheaper way of reaching a more targeted demographic or consumer.

This becoming an important way to get production funding for projects and will play an increasing in AFP (advertiser funded productions/programmes). As Adam Armus, Executive Producer of Heroes pointed out this does not allow the sponsor to dictate or revise scripts or influence production in way to dilute the programme offering.

It would be great to hear your views especially those of you involved in production and creating branded video projects.
