Youtube hits 1 billion video views

On Youtube viewers were greeted with a 1BN daily views logo, I knew it was coming but not sure when. I can remember when Myspace was creaking when it was nearing to 70-80 million user accounts and had to spend time temporarily undergoing maintenance to expand and manage the traffic.

In words of Chad Hurley from the Youtube blog he credit the success of Youtube’s achievement being down to the following factors.

  • Speed matters: Videos should load and play back quickly.
  • Clip culture is here to stay: Short clips are voraciously consumed and perfect for watching a wide variety of content.
  • Open platforms open up possibility: Content creation isn’t our business; it’s yours.
We wanted to create a place where anyone with a video camera, a computer, and an Internet connection could share their life, art, and voice with the world, and in many cases make a living from doing so.
  • No doubt it’s not without it’s detractors, this has been a year to really test Youtube and it’s ability to handle traffic.

Barack Obama’s inauguration, Michael Jackson’s death, Usain Bolts new world record, and Susan Boyle mania have crashed many sites.

Both Google and Twitter crashed when search for Michael Jackson was entered.

No doubt this will cause even more overcrowding and opportunities in the marketplace for those viral specialists and video marketing companies seeking to effectively gain and enhance client exposure.

We at HD Productions use and embrace online web video marketing and media production,
understanding the impact that video can bring to a client, their brand, product and service.

Businesses not considering a video strategy are seriously shooting themselves in the foot and
hampering their own web marketing and company development efforts.

Like saying goes, you’ve got to be, in it to win it.

There is also plenty of other sites commenting Youtube’s 1 billion views and are worth having a look as well.
